Here are the answers to a number of questions you might have...

  • How many sessions will I need?

Unfortunately, Santa didn’t deliver me a crystal ball last year so I don’t know how many sessions you will need. I ask that people work with me for three sessions, spaced over a month time period. Within this month, you should notice an improvement in your symptoms and see progress in achieving your goals. I should also see improvement or I will suggest an alternative treatment plan or referral to another therapist.

My philosophy is to space sessions close enough together to keep progress moving forward, but enough time between so that we are putting more time between sessions. We do this until you reach the point where you are coming in on a maintenance schedule, keeping you healthy, stress- and injury free.
Maintenance may be once every three weeks or once every six weeks depending upon your personal situation and stress levels.

  • How will I know that the therapy is working?

You should know that the therapy is working by a reduction of and less frequent episodes of your pain, improvement in your range of motion, sleeping better, less stress and tension in your body and an overall sense of well-being.

  • How long is a session?

The typical session is either one-hour or an hour-and-a-half. For children a half-hour session is sometimes appropriate.

  • Do you use oils or lotions?

The techniques that I use do not require the use of oils or lotions. This means that you can leave the office after your appointment and not have to go home to shower.

  • Do I have to get undressed?

The techniques that I use do not require you to be undressed as long as you are wearing loose and comfortable clothes. Even with you dressed, I am able to help your body release tension from tight and stiff muscles in your hips, legs, shoulders, neck and back.

  • Who do you work with?

I work with people of all ages - from pregnant women to newborn one-day old infants to those preparing to die. And everyone in between.

  • What types of problems do you help?

    My specialties include:

    • Headaches, migraines and temporal mandibular joint (TMJ) dysfuntions
    • Neurological problems, including ADD, ADHD, depression, tinnitus and veritgo
    • Structural problems, including neck, feet and shoulders
    • Emotional and Nutritional stresses

I have a wide range and variety of tools that can help almost every system of your body. In particular because the CranioSacral Therapy and NeuroStructural Release work that I do addresses the nerves in your body I can directly and indirectly effect all your organs and muscles.

I continue to study and learn new techniques on a regular basis. In sessions, I combine and blend the techniques as needed to help your specific problem. And I will be the first to tell you if I don’t thing I can be of help and will gladly refer you to an appropriate therapist.

  • Is Bach Flowers like aromatherapy?

Bach Flower Essences are only like aromatherapy in that they are derived from plants and flowers. The Bach Flower Essences are energetic vibration remedies, unlike essential oils used in aromatherapy which contain the volatile oils of plants and flowers. The Bach Flower Essences are used primarily internally and sometimes in cream externally. The Bach Flower Essences also have no smell.

  • Do you take credit cards?

At this time only cash and checks are accepted payment methods.

  • Does insurance cover your services?

Whether or not insurance covers my services depends upon your insurance policy, if treatment is medically necessary or if your situation is due to an accident. My fees are payable at time of service and I am happy to provide you with receipts for your sessions.

  • What are your hours?

I see clients Monday through Friday. First session generally starts at 9 or 9:30 AM and last session generally starts at 5 or 5:30 PM. All sessions are by appointment only. Some same day appointments may be available. Please call and check. I do my best to see clients in a timely manner.

  • What do those initials behind your name mean?

CST-D refers to my status as a Diplomate Certified CranioSacral Therapist. Through the Upledger Institute, there are two levels of certification, Techniques and Diplomate. Diplomate is the higher of the two. As of May 2008 there are four therapist certified at the Techniques level, and I am the only Diplomate certified therapist.

NCTMB refers to being Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. This is a requirement for being certified as a massage therapist or bodyworker in Maryland and many other states. And yes, I am certified in the states of Maryland and Wisconsin.

BFRP stands for Bach Foundation Registered Practitioner. This is the certification for a practitioner using the Bach Flower Essences. There are three of us in Maryland who hold this certification, among hundreds throughout the world.
